The shoes are a metaphor for the inner battle. The struggle between darkness and self control, emotion and reason, weakness and willpower.
Its not about victory, its about endurance. The samurai may fall but he Fight until the end. True strength lies in resistance against inner demon. You can see the struggle the samurai has in one shoe where the demon serpent is chocking him. The demon represents inner demons, everything dark and destructive. Anger, temptation, fear and ego. The snakes body is wrapped around the samurai symbolises being trapped by one's own emotions or past.
You can see on the logo that the samurai wears the demons mask that had trapped him before. This shows mastery over darkness. The mask shows that he has faced his inner demons, and is no longer its victim. It signals control over what once controlled him. He has transformed fear, anger and chaos into strength.
The moment I seen the Under urmour logo I seen a samurai helmet. That is the idea and concept behind this costume. Play with the under armour name and add that to the design. I went ahead with traditional Japanese tattoo that I imagined the samurai had and the front of the shoe and the side are part of his armour (Under Armour).
