Created in partnership with Rakuten, brought together thousands of custom sneaker artists from across the US and Europe. With Rakuten’s support, the competition became one of the largest creator-driven sneaker showcases ever produced, giving emerging artists a platform on a global stage. From thousands of entries, just 100 creators were shortlisted by a world-class judging panel featuring leaders across sport, design, music, and sneaker culture. These Top 100 designs formed the Art of the Game Official Collection - a rare, curated snapshot of sneaker culture at its most innovative. The journey concluded in San Francisco, where the finalists were flown out for a filmed finale with the Judges. This finale marked a milestone moment: a celebration of creators, culture, and the evolution of custom sneakers as a legitimate art form. Now, for the first time ever, you can own a piece of this history. Each Top 100 sneaker - whether the original pair or a made-to-order version in your size - represents a creator who rose above thousands to earn their place in this landmark Rakuten x Stephen Curry series. This isn’t just a sneaker. It’s a piece of the Art of the Game legacy - and a chapter in the future of sneaker culture.

Product Details
When i received my package i started to brainstorm about the design and i had one thing in mind at first - i want the sneakers to look like one of my graffiti inspired murals. As i feel extremely honorored to get the chance to participate in this competition, i took the competition name in combination with san francisco and stephen curry as the theme for my sneakers.
Usually i like to paint animals as main motifs when i do my mural art. But in this case i wanted to focus on a signature themed stephen curry / san francisco design.
For myself, the roots of customizing clothing (and later also sneakers) are in the early 80s when hip hop and graffiti started to develop in new york and graffiti artists and Bboys started to paint on their jackets and clothing with spraycans and markers (backpieces).
When i was a young kid i came to art trough classic graffiti writing. It has been the start to everything creative im doing in my life now and i always put graffiti influenced patterns and letters into my personal art.
My goal was to let the sneakers look like a vibrant graffiti mural. I choosed the coloursheme of the Golden state warriors as the basic colour combination for my shoes and added some more tones of yellow, orange and blue to the palette so that it gets more contrast and brightness. i started to paint the realistic images on the shoes outsides at first and from there i went on painting the background and other sides of the shoes. Ive combined freehand airbrush with brush and ive also created a special stephen curry logo tag on my own and added it to the shoes with a stencil. I really enjoyed it to customize a new pair of shoes (luckily no nike shoes this time, haha) with no given theme or restrictions and completely design it in the way i love to do it. I think that graffiti / urban art or streetart themed designs arent very much used in the custom sneaker game and i want to make a statement with these shoes and show how fresh this kind of style can look on a nice pair of shoes.
