Product Details

This design blends two worlds that shaped me as an artist: basketball and anime. I wanted to capture the energy of a player entering “another mode” during a clutch moment, the same way a character powers up in Dragon Ball. For this project, I reimagined Curry in a Super Saiyan state, translating that transformation into color, movement, and emotion across the pair.

Each shoe represents a different stage of power.

One side carries the explosive lightning and electric blues of a full transformation, with sharper highlights and aggressive lines to show intensity and focus. The other side uses warmer tones, glowing flares, and dynamic strokes to represent rising energy and momentum. Together, they tell a story of growth, pressure, and confidence — the feeling right before a game-changing shot.

Every detail was painted by hand using layers of acrylic, controlled splatter for motion, and anime-style shading to keep the characters alive. I wanted the sneaker to feel like a frame pulled from an animation, frozen at the moment where everything shifts.

This project isn’t just fan art. It’s my way of showing how sports and anime share the same spirit: pushing limits, evolving, and stepping into a version of yourself you didn’t know you had. That’s what inspired the design, and that’s what I hoped to bring to life on this pair.

A HISTORIC COLLABORATION

Created in partnership with Rakuten, brought together thousands of custom sneaker artists from across the US and Europe. With Rakuten’s support, the competition became one of the largest creator-driven sneaker showcases ever produced, giving emerging artists a platform on a global stage. From thousands of entries, just 100 creators were shortlisted by a world-class judging panel featuring leaders across sport, design, music, and sneaker culture. These Top 100 designs formed the Art of the Game Official Collection - a rare, curated snapshot of sneaker culture at its most innovative. The journey concluded in San Francisco, where the finalists were flown out for a filmed finale with the Judges. This finale marked a milestone moment: a celebration of creators, culture, and the evolution of custom sneakers as a legitimate art form. Now, for the first time ever, you can own a piece of this history. Each Top 100 sneaker - whether the original pair or a made-to-order version in your size - represents a creator who rose above thousands to earn their place in this landmark Rakuten x Stephen Curry series. This isn’t just a sneaker. It’s a piece of the Art of the Game legacy - and a chapter in the future of sneaker culture.
