Created in partnership with Rakuten, brought together thousands of custom sneaker artists from across the US and Europe. With Rakuten’s support, the competition became one of the largest creator-driven sneaker showcases ever produced, giving emerging artists a platform on a global stage. From thousands of entries, just 100 creators were shortlisted by a world-class judging panel featuring leaders across sport, design, music, and sneaker culture. These Top 100 designs formed the Art of the Game Official Collection - a rare, curated snapshot of sneaker culture at its most innovative. The journey concluded in San Francisco, where the finalists were flown out for a filmed finale with the Judges. This finale marked a milestone moment: a celebration of creators, culture, and the evolution of custom sneakers as a legitimate art form. Now, for the first time ever, you can own a piece of this history. Each Top 100 sneaker - whether the original pair or a made-to-order version in your size - represents a creator who rose above thousands to earn their place in this landmark Rakuten x Stephen Curry series. This isn’t just a sneaker. It’s a piece of the Art of the Game legacy - and a chapter in the future of sneaker culture.

Chromatic Shift
Product Details
Chromatic Shift is inspired by color and memory. The cyan, magenta, and bright yellow were extremely popular during my birth year, 1994. I wanted the shoe to feel like a connection between the past and now. These colors remind me of a simpler time in my life and in culture. Together the color palette creates a look that subtly changes depending on the angle. I’m also fascinated by these colors because they can layer to create virtually the entire color spectrum.
I worked on it by hand, layering colors by airbrushing and using stencils. I thought about how each part of the shoe would work together. After about 72 hours of overthinking, making stencils, and creating digital renders on my iPad, I arrived at a design I felt confident executing, utilizing the skills I’ve been building over the past eight years of customizing sneakers. Although the suede was very temperamental, it was a welcome learning curve that took some getting used to but all in all I am glad to have gained more experience on a new material.
With that being said I realized step by step how much this shoe is really about the process; taking time throughout the process, seeing how the colors come together, and working within a short turnaround. I wanted to make something I would want to wear. A pair of shoes that, regardless of hype or brand, catches the eye and lets people appreciate the details.
The insole has a custom Flotro x Clone logo airbrushed in bright yellow. The laces were dyed to match the shoe and feature hand-painted aglets. A lot of love were put into these and it\\\'s going to be sad to see them go! However this project has inspired me to paint on another pair of shoes using the same color palette.
Thank you so much for this opportunity, the timing was truly perfect. -Nicholas (Nicky D)
